A reminder: For all of Santa Clara County, the race for San Jose Mayor is significant. It's because five of the 12 Board members on the VTA's Board of Directors are from San Jose's City Council. The Mayor has the power to appoint 4 to 5 City Council members to sit on the VTA Board, including the ability to self-appoint. Five votes of seven to improve or degrade public transit.
