Several Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) bus lines and light rail serve Silicon Valley’s two major convention centers. Those centers are the Santa Clara Convention Center in northern Santa Clara, and the McEnery Convention Center in downtown San Jose.
Both convention centers host trade shows, public meetings, and conventions – gatherings of those interested in and promoting a product, service, individual, or beliefs.[toc]
San Jose McEnery Convention Center
The San Jose McEnery Convention Center is next to VTA’s Convention Center light rail station. The Convention Center at 150 West San Carlos Street in downtown San Jose.
The McEnery Convention Center is also served by VTA’s 23 bus line and the DASH downtown shuttle. During weekday rush hour periods, VTA’s 168 express bus to and from Gilroy serves the Convention Center. On weekdays only from 6am until 6pm, VTA’s 323 Limited Stop bus line also stops at the Convention Center, both in front of and across the street from the Center’s main entrance.
Santa Clara Convention Center
The Santa Clara Convention Center is located at 5001 Great America Parkway in northern Santa Clara. The Convention Center is also across Tasman from California’s Great America theme park. Therefore, the same transit directions for the Convention Center can also be used for the theme park.
It’s a two block walk east from the end of VTA’s 55, 57 and 60 local bus lines at Old Ironsides and Tasman. The Santa Clara Convention Center is also across Tasman from the Great America light rail station.
During weekday rush hour periods, the Convention Center is also a short walk from VTA’s 121 and 140 express bus lines to Gilroy and Fremont BART station, respectively. VTA’s 330 limited stop bus line also serves the Convention Center.
For the 121 express bus line, get off at Old Ironsides and Tasman, and walk two blocks east to the Convention Center. For the 140 express bus and 330 limited stop bus, get off at the Great America light rail station bus stop.
