  1. I’m trying to contact either Stacey Mortensen or Brian Schmidt at Altamont Commuter Express. After a hiatus of a couple of years I’ll be leading another Grand Tour of Bay Area Rail & Ferry Services (the 23d tour) for Friends of SMART and the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy. This time the bigwigs will be on board–SMART board members and General Manager.

Often in past tours we’ve missed the WHEELS connecting bus to BART at Pleasanton, delaying us for an hour. I’m wondering if we’d have a better chance of catching a bus to BART if we ride the ACE train one more stop to Livermore. If this message doesn’t get through to them, please convey my best regards to both Stacey and Brian.

I am doing this by really remote control, from my computer in Beijing, China, where we’re living at this time. The tour will be either on December 19 or early in January, on either the 2d or 5th.
