Light rail rehabilitation work at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) continues. From May 23-June 9, track and signal replacement work at San Carlos and Woz Way in downtown San Jose forces VTA to run shuttle buses instead of trains in the southern and western edges of downtown San Jose.

Also, the 23 local and 523 Rapid bus lines will be affected by the work in the area until June 9.

Do you normally ride the 23, 523 Rapid, Blue Line or Green Line light rail south or west of downtown San Jose? Attending FanimeCon at the Convention Center this Memorial Day weekend? Read more to learn how your commute will be affected.

Other effects of the track and signal replacement work taking place:

  • Convention Center, Children’s Discovery Museum, and Virginia stations will be closed to light rail trains.
  • The 23 local and 523 Rapid bus lines will be detoured around the work area.

VTA shuttle buses will run between San Antonio and Tamien stations on the Blue Line, in both directions. All Blue Line stops except Virginia station will be served by these buses. For Virginia station, ride the 64A bus to Bird and West Virginia St – a 5 minute bike ride or 10 minute walk from Virginia station.

For the Green Line, VTA shuttle buses will run between San Antonio and San Fernando stations in both directions. These buses will also serve Convention Center station.

Going to San Jose McEnery Convention Center for FanimeCon? Ride the VTA light rail shuttle buses – or the 23 or 523 Rapid bus lines – to the Convention Center station bus stop. The bus stop for Convention Center light rail station is only steps away. Riding these buses will help you beat traffic and parking woes in downtown San Jose.
