Bulls, Bacon…and ‘Ball2 min. read

This weekend in Silicon Valley features several interesting events – despite expected rain this weekend. For starters, there’s bull riding and a Bacon Festival in San Jose.  Also, there’s college football in San Jose and Raiders football in Oakland. This transit guide has Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) bus, light rail, and other rail service to and from these events to help you beat traffic gridlock.

More information follows…

Bull Riding at SAP Center

The top 35 bull riders in the world will compete this weekend at the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) 2016 San Jose Invitational.  Action takes place on Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 2pm at SAP Center, 525 W. Santa Clara Street, San Jose.  “Will Call” for tickets and the doors open two hours and then 90 minutes before the action starts, respectively.

To help you beat traffic gridlock to and from the bull riding, check out our SAP Center transit guide.  The guide lists VTA bus, light rail and Caltrain service to and from SAP Center.  Many of these service stop within a 5 minute walk from San Jose Diridon Station.

Bacon Festival Of America 2016

The San Jose Bacon Festival of America takes place this Saturday from noon until 7pm.  The Bacon Festival will be at Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose.  There, you can join thousands of people on hand who will celebrate the “bacon lifestyle.”  In addition to all types of food based on bacon, there will be live bands, local vendors, and even a Pro Wrestling show.

Our transit guide to downtown San Jose details two VTA bus lines and VTA light rail serving the Convention Center light rail station.  The Convention Center light rail station is a 5 minute walk to Plaza de Cesar Chavez and the Bacon Festival.

San Jose State Spartans Football

It’s Saturday night college football “under the lights” in San Jose.  San Jose State football hosts Nevada at CEFCU Stadium (formerly Spartan Stadium) Saturday at 7:30pm.

Our transit guide to Spartans football mentions three VTA bus lines – two of which link downtown and South First/Alma, only a 10-minute walk to CEFCU Stadium.

Oakland Raiders Football

Raider Nation member living in the South Bay? As you know, the Raiders host their arch rivals Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at 1:05pm.

You might not know that there are two public transit options to and from Raiders games from the South Bay. Our transit guide to Raiders football lists both options.
