College and Pro Football This Weekend
On Saturday at 1pm, the San Jose State Spartans have their football home opener against Nevada. VTA’s 25 & 73 bus lines stop within walking distance of Spartan Stadium. The San Jose State Spartans portion of our College & Pro Football Transit Guides gives you the information you need.
Also on Saturday at 2:30pm, the Cal Bears will have their AT&T Park football opener against Presbyterian. Caltrain’s 4th and King San Francisco terminal is only 1 block south of AT&T Park, which you can access via their weekend train service. There are also additional express bus options to this game in our Cal Bears transit guide.
Finally, on Sunday at 1:05pm, the San Francisco 49ers host Dallas at Candlestick Park. We have details on two express bus options to and from the game.
San Jose Sharks Training Sessions
This weekend, the San Jose Sharks start their training camp for the 2011-2012 season. The Sharks will hold their camp at their practice facility, Sharks Ice at San Jose, on Alma and Tenth in San Jose. VTA’s 25 & 73 bus lines stop within walking distance of Sharks Ice. Our guide has the skinny on using both of these buses to get to Sharks Ice. Be warned: if you want to see the training camp, it’s limited to the first 250 people who show up at Sharks Ice.
On Tuesday, September 20, the Sharks will have their “Teal and White Night” at 7pm at HP Pavilion at 525 W. Santa Clara Street in San Jose. Our HP Pavilion Transit Guide has the Caltrain and VTA bus/light rail options you need to get to and from this event.
American Indian Powwow at Evergreen College
This Saturday from noon until 10pm, Evergreen College will host the 6th Annual American Heritage Indian Powwow and Market. The Powwow takes place from noon until 10pm at the lawns of Evergreen College, 3095 Yerba Buena Road in San Jose.
VTA’s 31 bus line from Eastridge Mall ends near the Powwow. Be advised, however: the last bus to Eastridge Mall leaves Evergreen College at 5:55pm.
Use this page to obtain the latest VTA and Caltrain schedule and fare information. Try to have exact change and most importantly, proof of valid fare before you board light rail or Caltrain, to avoid being fined by fare inspectors.
Have a nice weekend! Enjoy yourself at these and other events, and STAY SAFE!
