Happy New Year!

On behalf of the Silicon Valley Transit Users, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

To help you travel to and from your New Year’s Eve party, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), Caltrain, SamTrans, and San Francisco’s MUNI will have FREE service from 8pm Sunday until 5am Monday.  Until 3am Monday morning, BART will run trains every 20 minutes, especially in support of fireworks show on the San Francisco waterfront at midnight.

All Bay Area transit agencies will run a Sunday/Holiday schedule on New Year’s Day (January 1).

On New Year’s Day, there will be numerous fare and service changes on a couple of Bay Area transit agencies.  Read on for more details.

Transit To the Tunes This Weekend

The biggest concert weekend of the year takes place this weekend in the Bay Area.  Several huge concerts and music festivals will take place in San Francisco, Mountain View, and San Jose.

Expect standing room only (SRO) conditions on Caltrain from Friday thru Sunday.  This is because fans traveling to and from these concerts will be riding with normal commuters.

This guide will show you bus and rail options to help you beat traffic gridlock and parking hassles at these events.  Options even detail some private shuttle bus options to and from these events.

Weekend Transit Update – July 28-30

This is a big summer weekend in Silicon Valley.  First, there’s the 2017 Gilroy Garlic Festival in South County happening this weekend.  Also, you have two concerts this Saturday and Sunday night at the SAP Center in downtown San Jose.  Finally, there is a San Jose Earthquakes soccer match vs. Colorado at Avaya Stadium in San Jose on Saturday afternoon at 4:45pm.

This transit guide will detail the bus and rail alternatives to traffic gridlock and parking hassles.

Happy Fourth Of July – 2017

On behalf of the Silicon Valley Transit Users, I want to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day.

All Silicon Valley transit agencies (like VTA, Caltrain, SamTrans, Caltrain, and BART) are running on a Sunday/Holiday schedule today.

Fourth of July parades will cause rerouting on several VTA bus lines today.  These include:

Speaking of which: VTA light rail to downtown San Jose and several bus lines are great alternatives to the traffic gridlock expected for the downtown San Jose fireworks tonight.  They are also a great alternative to drinking and driving to and from the festivities.

Please stay safe and sane on this Fourth of July holiday.
